I feel better already.
At least they didnt adopt the burning at the stake doctrine as well.
i realize that i avoid using their name for god.. i can say it................. jehovah.
but i'll avoid it almost always..... if i'm talking with you,.
on the rare occasions that i am in conversation with any jdub family,.

I can say it................. Jehovah. There, you see!
But I'll avoid it almost always..... if I'm talking with you,

I am more comfortable saying God.
How about you?
yes, what convinced you to leave the jw's org?
i've known about this group since 1949, things were much different back in those days, yes they were exciting times.
why did i eventually leave this group?
In a round about way it was the 1975 thing, though more " you can see its very near..."
In the mean time my life was awful, married to a rotten elders daughter.
Everybody said " wait on Jehovah", even the CO.
Well I just got fed up of waiting, and hearing the " its very close, just keep going".
Thinking about it, its a REALLY Christian idea:
Wait on Jehovah. He'll sort her out! A bit like having a hit man.
So I took matters into my own hand, and left them all.
Lifes been great since, even if I dont get to see my family.
"armageddon in 1975 - 'probability' or 'possibility".. .

Thank you haelcer
not posted on here in a while.... .
my sister is the only one in our family who's still a witness.
she's 32 and married to a servant.
Hi faundy.
There are lots of maybes:
maybe your sister just has a problem with the fact that you are lesbian
as you know, i'm embroiled in a family and internet debate/dialogue w/jws the last few days.
and you all have been helping get great points in.
the text that i'm about to post come from a jw apologist who has acknowledge some of my comments about jws being a cult and that no tolerance for questioning them is one of the signs of a cult.
See CRISIS OF CONSCIENCE pages 4 and 5.
Three different men
Three different religions
All three disagreed with some aspect of their religion
Three different reactions to this by the religious leaders
Guess which religion acted the harshest
Good question designs.
The answer is Her would not.
Jdubs have to go into a long drawn out arguement to try and justify their idea.
so, i am thinking about voting for the first time in my life.
even though there is a questions from readers article that basically mentioned it is a conscience matter, we all know what the unwritten rule is.. problem is, even though i'm mentally out, i'm still physically in.
do you think that if i'm seen at the polling station by the witnesses i could suffer any consequences?
Wouldnt it be funny if you found the po there

based on certain families who i've known personally in the "truth", there was infidelity which resulted in children out of wedlock, drug abuse, abortion (involving an elder's teenager), verbal, emotional, & physical abuse (by parents and spouses), and dependence on public assistance.
Back in the 60's , families were fine ( but then again in or out of the borg).
Today, there are more and more problems, and the so called sexual freedom.
Also, jws tend to attract people who have got disfonctions/problems etc.
If all is well with you, there would be little reason to listen to jdub talk.
So, maybe that is a reason why there are quite a few disfuntional families in the borg.
what is the current stance on this issue?
i've heard of a lot of ms who were going to university, and yet i've never heard of that being the case for elders.
someone on this board also mentioned recently that they knew of man who was denied appointment as an elder despite otherwise excellent qualifications because he was a college student.
